Ten Minutes

fullsizeoutput_5e1

How do they do it?

Rush and race and rage on the roads

On a morning like this,

when the sky is clear

and holds promise of a glorious day?

When the air is fresh and cool and smells of new blossoms,

what is so important

that they don’t even notice

the velvety bunny at the side of the road?

Did they not hear

the chorus of birds

outside their window

as they scrambled to dress

and shove cereal

down their throats

and brush their teeth

and dump coffee into their mouth

as they hurry to their automobile?

Why didn’t they just get up

ten minutes earlier?

If only they would.

They might see the velvety bunny

next to the flowering pinks

as the birds sing their morning

song of joy.
