In the Sunflower Forest Where the Wild Bees Sleep

IMG_0302

The wild bee sleeps
in my sunflower forest,
among the pistols and stamens,
in the eye of
the glowing yellow petals.
She snuggles down with her fuzzy legs
like a Teddy bear,
her head resting on
a stamen pillow.
Her abdomen moves in and out
as she breathes.
(If we had a mini amplifier
we could probably hear her snore.)
Gently she sleeps
in the cool of the night,
she stays tucked into the stamens
until
it’s warm enough
for flight.
Off she will fly to all the sunflowers
until her pollen sacs are full.
